Every year in July in Gniezno (the first capitol of Poland) we organize the International Basketball Tournament for boys and girls. Gniezno is a beautiful, historical city located in western part of Poland with about 75 thousends inhabitants. Instead of huge basketball festival with hundreds of teams we limit the number of teams to 32 (8 in each category) in exchange for very good accomodation (no sleeping on the floor in classrooms but in very modern dormitories). On our tournament noone feels anonymous and we have fine, friendly atmosphere with great program of non-sport activities. Below, I send you the official invitation:

We would like to invite you to take part in 7th International Basketball Tournament of boys and girls. The tournament will take place in Gniezno on 5 full-sized sport halls. In our previous editions teams from Spain, France, Belgium, Great Britain, Hungary, Netherlands, Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia, Germany, Russia,Sweden, Czech Republic, Denmark, Lithuania and Poland participated.

It would be brilliant if you make it this year but if not please ask your friends from other clubs that might be interested in paticipating.

Here are the most important informations about our tournament:

1. In 2009 the tournament will be split into 2 categories of boys and girls: born in 1992-1993 and 1994-95.
2. Tournament will take place on 3th - 5th of July 2009
3. Opening ceremony: 3th of July on 9:00 hall of second high school in Gniezno, Lubienskiego street 3/5, arrival of teams on Thursday (2th).
4. We offer playing at least 5 games in 4 x 8 minutes.
5. Accomodation and meals 3 times a day.
6. Sightseeing the first capitol with a guide.
7. Disco or concert for youth.
8. Tournaments t-shirt
9. Party for coaches and carers.
10. Free usage of public transport
11. Cups for the first three teams in each category and diploms for the rest.
12. During the tournament we organize a game between former stars of Polish basketball against coaches of the participating teams.
13. We will provide you free transport from airport Poznan or Bydgoszcz to Gniezno (from other Polish airports transport costs will be very low)

Each of the participant will receive the tournament pass. We have a very different level of the tournament because we have a very good teams, national champions etc and amatour teams.
Deadline for registration is 31th of March 2009. Main organizer, the person who registers the teams and sends additional informations is Marek Szczepanowski.

Comments: I would like to know if you know of any AAU teams in the inner city, because my daughter is 13 and she has been playing for AAU for the last two years in Clarksville, TN and now she will be in New York for the summer and she has no where to play. If you know of anything or any one who can help me in this matter I would appreciate it.
