Location: Dallas Comments: Copy of a letter to Bill Provine, TP&W I have been reading about the bass tournament exemption being tested at Lake Fork and wanted to express my disappointment in this shortsighted proposal. Neither I nor the vast majority of fishermen participate in tournaments and many of us resent having to wait in line then dodge the "dollar-and-prize-guys." Why are these commercial ventures allowed on our public waters? I think tournaments should be outlawed. At the very least they should have to pay a stiff fee, at least $5,000, to be used for lake improvement. Bass hauled around in livewells die. I know ad agencies love getting all these people together so they can sell them stuff, and I understand why lakeside merchants think this is the motherlode, but there are a lot more of me than there are tournament fishermen. And I will spend my recreational hours on lakes where I don't have to dodge the $/Prize guys. Let them rent private lakes to have their private enterprises. I'm not interested in subsidizing Ranger Boats or B.A.S.S. with my tax dollars or license fees. Sincerely, Larry Lynch
