I'm currently writing a book that examines how attitudes to terrorism have changed in the US in the post-911 world. Clearly, yourselves included, you don't condemn the murders of civilians...do you? Yet there seems to be a continued tacit support for the IRA?
I plan to examine the logical divide between perceptions of the IRA as an army or as a terrorist group of international reach. What I'm driving at is that is highlighted if we were to take a hypothetical situation where the UK and Irish governments were to give the army 'official status' then there would have to be several internal trials for war-crimes, or that several leaders should be sent to the international war crimes tribuneral in Den Haag, Holland.
A second part of the book examines perceptions of democracy, freedom and liberty in the US and Ireland. The US is well known for espousing democratic rights, as it has helped to do in Iraq. And, inherently, the people of the US and Ireland are pro-democratic. For example, if 75% of voters in Gallway voted to make Gallway a free state, to break away from Ireland, then you might expect people to begrudgingly say, 'ok - its your look out, and you guys want it, so I respect your decision'. I choose Gallway randomly. Therefore, its funny that when a majority of people in the Northern part of Ireland are given a national election every 4 or 5 years and given the opportunity to become part of Ireland, that they always vote to stay part of the UK. Funny, that democracy thing, isn't it??? Equally funny is the fact that 99% of people in mainland UK couldn't give a tinkers cuss what happens to northern ireland in any case, what with it being the European equivalent of Rwanda in terms of its tribal fighting.
The book will conclude with, why don't you all just shut up and put your energy into something positive.
As a post-script, it will muse on the fact that the Scots hate the English with more passion than the Irish do, and have certainly had their own share of oppression (the highland clearances being known in some circles as the 'scottish holocaust'), however, you don't see the Scots going bombing women and children in the belief it will lead to independance, do you? Why? Because us Scots dont have the same low mental age group that puts them in the same bracket as the IRA, UVF, Al Quaeda, Pol Pot, Hitler or any other bastards.
Please take a trip to the real world some time.

Great tribute on the home page about 9/11. A little two faced though one feels.
All wrong for terrorists to kill and maim innocent American civilians going about their daily business yet it's ok for you lot to follow terrorism in Ireland and the UK?
Is there any diference in a terrorist organisation killing innocent Americans and a terrorist organisation killing innocent Brits? You tell me!
Einniskillen? Warrington? Manchester? Remember these names people. Einniskillen is particularly a good example.
A rememberence day parade full of old age pensioners remembereing their friends and colleagues who died in the World Wars to give this world freedom and the terrorist organisation your supporting blew them to pieces with a bomb.
There would be an outcry if the same had have happened in America with Middle Eastern terrorists wouldn't there? No?
All I can say is remember 9/11....remember Enniskillen!
Ignorant people!
