I was looking for information on a much earlier eruption near Krakatoa, 535AD that may have plunged the earth into a short nuclear winter and caused drought, floods, famine and disease to such a degree that civilizations tumbled and the dice of human development were tossed yet again.
A man in UK has written a book named CATASTROPHE about his extensive research into the specific events starting in 535AD. He seeks to explain what could have caused the sun to dim, crops to fail and an amazing host of disasters to befall mankind. His conclusion is not a comet impact but an enormous explosion in Java that surpasses anything in recent history. The rumbling from the explosion was recorded more that 3000 miles away in China, where it later rained yellow dust. Evidence from dendrochronology, ice cores and scant written records seem to support this idea.
