Comments: Just read your "When Is It Time To Start Shooting?" Very well said. Two quibbles: First, it wasn't Kevin Harris' dog that was shot by the ATF agents; it was Sammy Weaver's dog. Sammy returned fire but directed it over the agents' heads, and then ran. Agents shot him in the back. Kevin Harris then shot one of the agents. Secondly, at Lexington Green, no one can say with certainty who shot first. (That may well be because of public relations as you describe, the rebels present didn't want the public to know a rebel shot first.) I'm not the Bible-thumper you are, but I respect your point of view. (For example, I hate abortion, but I hate basement butchers more.) I would also point out that not all defenders of liberty in an actual physical confrontation can be lily-white saints -- as the character portrayed by Mel Gibson in "The Patriot" pointed out to his son, rough and profane men make the best fighters. Finally, thank you for an appropriate article.

Thank you for stopping by the web site, and thank you very much for reading the article, and for sending me some comments!

Thank you for the correction. To be honest, I cannot remember all the details. I remember when it first happened, Kirby Ferris, if I remember correctly, wrote the first book about it: Blood on the Mountain. Unfortunately, I lent out my book, and haven's seen it since.

I'll have to re-read the essay to see what I said about it. Even if they did fire the first shot (which doesn't bother me any), I don't think it was the overall intention to initiate a fight, especially considering the odds.

Thank you. I tried to point out in the essay that many different viewpoints need to work together to preserve the Constitution. Many times, desiring to preserve and restore the Constitution may be the only thing we have in common, but if that's all, then that's enough.

Well said. However, I do hope that there are at least a few excellent fighters who are perhaps not quite so profane. It's nice if every camp can have some heros.

> Finally, thank you for an appropriate article.

Quite welcome. Thanks again for reading it!
