Comments: WOW! What a lucky hit. I went to met school at Ft Sill in '51. After a few months at home station at FT. Devens, I was detached to Banks as the met chief. SFC E-6. It was visual then. I set up the first GMD there. We didn't have a Q-5 yet, but we tried to use its predecessor, the radiosonde receptor FMQ-2. We were using one of the bunkers in a canon revetment as a balloon shelter. We were using calcium hydride then. Got in trouble with Winthrop when the residue appeared in the drainage system. SFC Ducette and I delivered a shop van to Welfleet. Stopped by at my folks house on the North Shore of Wequaquet Lake for lunch. As I was leaving there to go to Korea, hostilities ceased, and I was retained in Japan for two years. Comments: I well remember Camp WellFleet. I made trips to the camp several times in 1954 and 1955 to fire our 90mm aa guns. We shot down a few rcats along with some target sleeves. I am glad some one remembers the old camp.
