A website for those who suffer unbearable emotional distress over the idea that God lets anyone suffer forever. It contains my testimony, my son’s tribute, many links, many writings, several forums, a guest book, a chart, and a web ring.

Comments: Carlos Valencia lost his battle with leukemia Sunday at 9:05pm. August 8, 2004.

Most Tucsonans got to know Carlos Valencia in December 2000 when he
was 12. Doctors had diagnosed him with a chronic form of leukemia
only a few months earlier. The disease robbed him of energy, but not of hope. The life-long Arizona Wildcat fan had dreams of playing for
Lute Olson.
But first, he needed a bone marrow transplant. And his family hoped a drive for potential donors would lead to a
life-saving match. Hundreds responded to a bone marrow drive held at
Carlos' church.
His cousin Tomas was diagnosed with leukemia in 1998. A bone marrow
donor was found, and the transplant saved his life. Carlos thought it would only be a matter
of time,but no match
would come for Carlos, and doctors turned to
riskier treatments.
In the spring of 2001, Carlos underwent a transplant using umbilical cord blood filled with stem cells from other donors. The cells took hold, and built a new immune system.
Carlos' cancer went into remission. But two years later, in 2003 he started having pain and feeling weak again. Doctors soon found the cancer was back. Doctors tried three more cord blood transplants. The last one this past may. All of them failed.
Finally, doctors made a last-ditch effort transplanting stem cells
Carlos stored in 2001. They were diseased with leukemia, but doctors
hoped they could boost his immune system.
Instead Carlos's condition worsened. Days later Doctors found him
infected with pneumonia. He lost the ability to speak, and had trouble breathing. Then Carlos developed fungal pneumonia, he died at 9:05pm on August 8th.
A heartbreaking end to
the story of the boy thousands of Tucsonans were rooting for.

Donations are being accepted for the family of
the recent beloved Carlos Valencia. Anything from
$1 will greatly help the Valencia family for the
funeral costs and their grief. Donations should be
