I have driven over Rt 11 from Scranton to Nicholson many times (recently as winter 2004), as maternal granparents are buried in a cemetery with the most spectacular view of the Nicholson viaduct. I seem to recall watching double-headed steam hauling freight north from the Notch in the mid 50's, but that's so long ago...I really always wondered about the grade and alignment of the road, as it was like no other road through mountainous terrain that I ever knew...Great page. Thanks for maintaining it.

My parents took me to see the Nicholson bridge when I was a kid. This might be a short notice for you, but I will be circling around the perimeter of NE Pa next week on my bicicyle and will be using Rt 11 from Clarks Summit to the Great Bend as part of my route. If you can let me know of anything on Route 11 that you would like a current picture of, then let me know soon.
