As Joy took hold within you
The sky had given birth
Something akin to heaven
Within your childish mirth
The springtime showers brought a gift
The world had never known
When tears of heaven washed you clean
The Sword was in the Stone
Above you in the clearing
A face shown through those clouds
Your face was Jesus wearing
As you beamed right out loud
I’ll grow to be just like you
With laughter did resound
You flew away to heaven
and never left the ground
you've flown away to heaven...

my family was so touched by rich mullins and continous to be so today. I saw rich in st. louis mo, in january before he passed away. I was a single mother of 4 just leaving a domestic violence situation and I didn't have a dime. 2 hours before the concert a friend came by, gave me $20.00 and told me to go because I so wanted to see him because his songs got me through 9 months of being homeless by God's leading. The next time my 15 year old son and I had a weekend without the smaller children, which never happened. I told my son if we sold enough for tickets we would go see rich in belleville, IL. I got just enough plus $6.00 to share a meal at long john silvers before the concert. I had very little gas but knew God would provide and for the 2nd time my son saw God go from almost empty up to half a tank on the way home from the concert, it was awesome. During the concert rich kept looking at me, God kept telling me to talk to him but I felt like a teeny bopper and still afraid of men I asked God if I could write him a letter instead. God is so loving he let me go that way. I saw Rich at intermission- he was in the hall. We looked at eachotherfor a minute = I believe God was speaking to him as well. That was the end of July that year. Every morning God said "write Rich the letter". Every morning I said but I have nothing to say. In The Middle of Sept. I drove from St. louis to chicago to see my 94 y/o grandmother before she died of cancer with belts hanging out of my tires and $17.00 in my pocket. I knew God would be faithful we had seen miracle after miracle. I confessed to my 15 y/o son what God had been telling me to do, my struggles and that when we got back I was going to do it but had no idea what to say - he laughed at the teeny bopper thing. the friday night we got back I wrote a 18 page letter (for someone who had nothing to say). I had my son read the last 3 pages and said if it's stupid i'm not sending it. The last two weeks God kept saying if you don't send it it will be too late, I told my son what does that mean? He read it and said mom this is awesome you have to send it, but how? In told him I had $10.00 and planned to buy a tape and hoped it had an address. The next day we went to buy the tape & he had to put $2.86 of his own money in to buy it. All there was was a phone number and I could not wait to call Monday morning to get the address. I FELT DEVASTATED WHEN THE WOMEN SAID DIDN'T YOU HEAR, RICH WAS KILLED THIS PAST WEEKEND. wow! a freind consoled me by telling me God was only training me to listen to him, I just couldn't understand what too late was but God knew. My son is now 25 and until the last year I could put in a tape / vcr & my son and I would instantly remember the bond and closeness that gap that Rich helped to gap. He will no longer speak to me - please pray for us the last year satan has really beat us up. but how awesome the religious bonds that rich transcended, the generational amd cultural, as well. I thank God for the way he emulated Christ and the walk he walked in knowing the Love of God. I'll see you again someday and my son and I will sing with you-----Thank you for touching the lives of so many, no man could have asked for more than what you accomplished in your life, though short how bold, bright and beautiful------Thank You GOD for the life, light and songs of Rich Mullins!

I discovered Rich's music late, just a couple of years ago, but for me is dificult to explain all the things it has gived to my heart and mind. Yesterday (22/03/2007) I was hearing to "Hope to Carry On", and I started praying about how wonderful must be for God to have Rich in Heaven. I stoped my prayer crying. I never met him but I was missing him and still I do. I give you thanks, oh Lord for the live, music and message of your servant Rich Mullins!

Rich Mullins music has touched my life deeply. He has been and continues to be something of a prophet to me. I started listening to his music when I was in high school in the late 80's. A time when I had stopped seeking food for my spirit and was falling away from the discipline of discipleship. God's Words were burned into me during this period "in the wilderness" primarily through Rich's lyrics and music. When nothing else could ignite a spark in my cold, nearly dead spirit, songs like Hard and Hold Me Jesus, exposed me to the relentless tenderness of God's love for me. Eventually, Rich's music and interviews by and about him led me to Brennan Manning and a reawakening of my personal relationship with my Savior.
I thank God for using Rich Mullins, a modern Elijah, to bring me back to his relentless tenderness. May God continue to use his work, his art, to touch the calloused and jaded hearts of believers and non-believers like me.

Hello Raggedy friends,
Rich Mullins has taught me to be more like Jesus in my daily walk. That's not an easy thing to always do in this world today. In fact, it's a bit like the difference between being holy and faking it. One day I was driving down the road and I heard the Rich Mullin's song My Deliverer and I just... was moved to tears. So I came upon the the Rich Mullin's music scene a bit late but no matter. Everything that needed to be said was said and it has all spoke to me. Sure, I read and reread the Bible before I ever heard my first Rich Mullins song but it took hearing that first song to bring Jesus to life not in the sense of Jesus being God but in the sense of Jesus being man. It's said that the Bible is the Living Word of God and I know that to be true because every time I have read through it from cover to cover it has revealed something more to me as it has changed me from the inside out. Listening to Rich's music has just enhanced the process along the way and over the years. Just recently I went on a roadtrip and since I was nearby I stopped in Tennessee where Rich once lived and I swam at Johnson's Creek. I thought I'd just do that because the Jordon is still so far away, I can't quite see it without my faith...
Peace of Christ to you,
Shelley McGregor
