I have visited many truckers pages and there is much dissention about letting a company pay for school or go for myself. Why would I not go to a company for training? Dave in San Diego?

Thanks for your online forum for "newbies". I've checked out many of the others but unfortunately they seem to be "overrun" with anything BUT newbies....thanks, I enjoy it.
Hi,I saw an answer to one of my concerns where I got my CDL and didnt attend school.I rode with a friend every weekend for 9 months and got my CDL by driving for it just like any other "student graduate".I find it just so unfair that someone in my case would be denied a job just on that premise and not even given the chance to prove my ability. As for this site,I truly love it and have bookmarked it.Hope more stuff will be added.GOOD JOB!!!!!!!
Why do schools teach double clutching the tranny and your trainer wants you to float the gears. I do much better at double clutching. (NOTE from Rachelle: The DOT demands that you double-clutch. Most DOT people would flunk you if you took your CDL test and didn't. Therefore, the school really has to teach you that way.)
Hi, I'm an (newbie trucker) O/O of a tractor pulling a side dump. I know hauling rock isn't OTR, but it's my form of trucking. I purchased my truck before I had a CDL. A friend trained me, I tested, and started my business. My driving is almost all in the city. I am very happy in my new job. Ken
