  1. Know that extreme weather temperatures can be deadly. Be prepared for too hot or cold weather.
  2. Know your water sources! Water sources from a tree!
  3. Primitive weapons defense against man and beast.
  4. Avoiding natural and man made hazards.
  5. Ant eggs are not only edible but taste pretty good. Kinda sweet like honey. Just roll over a rotten log and you might just find supper.

  7. Woodlice - found under the bark of rotting trees are related to shrimps. They are tasty and a good source of protein. Cook them by dropping them into a cup of boiling water. Crush them with a stone to release the juices and add to soups and stews. Skip
  8. Trapping skills (in a survival situation) are better than hunting skills. Traps will work for you while you do other stuff like shelter building and lighting fires. Hunting takes all your valuable time and there's no guarantee of finding anything at the end of the day.
  9. I found a good way to scare rabbits out of their burrows in coastal areas (where they live in sand dunes)is to catch a crab, stick a candle stub to its back, light the candle and send the crab down a rabbit hole. Make sure all the other holes have nets or sacks over the entrances and as the rabbits see this horendous apparition coming down their burrow they leg it at a fast rate of knots out the other holes straight into your sacks. This is a good way to trap live rabbits if you want to start a captive breeding programme. No snares - no damage to the breeding stock. Skip
